Nebraska Partner of the Month

The first Sapp Bros. travel center was opened in 1971 by four brothers: Lee, William, Ray, and Dean Sapp. What started as one location in Omaha, Nebraska, has spread across the country for a total of 17 full-service travel centers. From as far west as Salt Lake City, Utah, to the east in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, Sapp Bros. has taken care of customers with its relationship-based customer service and primary focus to treat people kindly and fairly.

In 1980, Sapp Bros. Petroleum was incorporated to distribute various petroleum products from refined fuels and oil to natural gas and propane. To provide their customers with the most in-demand products and services, Sapp Bros., Inc. has built their petroleum connections through mergers and acquisitions with other companies. Their ambition has made them a leading petroleum wholesale distributor.

Tomorrow’s Business Leader

The latest issue of TBL is now available online! TBL is now serving as the signature publication for the entire organization, including information, content, and resources for all divisions. Please share with your chapter advisers and members.

About the New TBL

The 2020-21 Back to School edition of TBL was redesigned with a new nameplate and layout. This fresh look was created with the reader in mind, highlighting the entire FBLA-PBL experience throughout the pages. In addition, content of TBL spans all divisions with information relevant to members and advisers in FBLA-Middle Level, FBLA, PBL, and our Professional Division. The digital version is optimized to share articles via email and social media, save or print sections for easy reference, and discover extended content in the form of videos and slidedecks.

What’s Next for TBL

Print editions of the Back to School edition of TBL will be mailed to chapter advisers, state leaders, and national officers in the coming weeks. Additional copies are available upon request. An 11×17 Aspire membership poster will be in each print edition. Look out for more information soon about how to get a large poster as well!

Given the nature of remote learning and in an effort to meet adviser and member needs with relevant content in a timely manner, the late fall/early winter edition of TBL will be digital only with a limited print run upon request. In addition, because the new TBL is geared toward all divisions, we will no longer be distributing PBL Business Leader or the Professional Edge via email.

Chapters are welcome to submit their chapter news or story ideas for future issues here.

PBL Roadmap Series

FBLA-PBL National Center has added a new folder to the Local Chapter Adviser Resource Library: The PBL Roadmap.

The FBLA-PBL Roadmap is a resource for members, advisers and state leaders. The PBL Roadmap (or “the Roadmap”) defines the knowledge, skills, experiences, and behaviors that every FBLA-PBL member can and should cultivate during their time in PBL.

FBLA-PBL created separate Roadmaps for each of its three divisions: FBLA-Middle Level, FBLA, and PBL. The roadmaps for each division are linked and build upon one another. A PBL member who travels the Roadmap is distinctly prepared for their post-graduation career and can demonstrate that career readiness to future employers.

There are four components to the PBL Roadmap:

  1. Overview – An introduction to the PBL Roadmap.
  2. PBL Knowledge, Skills, Experiences, and Behaviors Roadmap – A table that shows what an PBL member should strive to know, learn, and do.
  3. PBL Action Plan – A series of specific ideas that advisers can use as co-curricular resources in their classrooms or that PBL members can pursue independently.
  4. PBL Self-Assessment – A tool to help PBL members assess where they are as they start the Roadmap and evaluate their progress throughout the Roadmap.

Note: This is an introduction to the Roadmap which was created last year and introduced to state leaders in January 2020; there is no requirement to use it.  It was designed to assist in guiding members in achieving the identified key knowledge, skills and behaviors for this division of our organization. This resource is meant to serve as a tool for you in your chapter to guide member experienceFBLA-PBL National Center has added a new folder to the Local Chapter Adviser Resource Library: The PBL Roadmap.

November Member of the Month (MoM) Submissions

Deadline: October 30 at 11:59PM CST

Nebraska PBL is excited to continue it’s Member of the Month (MoM) and Member of the Year (MoY) programs. These programs recognize the top members in Nebraska PBL! Each chapter will be able to nominate one person each month that they believe exemplifies the core values of Nebraska PBL through their actions both with PBL and outside of PBL. Out of all the nominees, a committee will decide on the Member of the Month. This PBL member will be recognized on social media as well as the PBL website via the Chapter Channel. A member can only win MoM once during the current school year.

Each member who wins MoM will be automatically nominated for Member of the Year, an award that will be announced at SLC and comes with a $250 scholarship. In addition, chapters may submit an additional member who did not win a MoM designation for MoY. Members who won MoM earlier in the year will be allowed to update their resume and portfolio for MoY.

Fill out the form below to nominate a member from your chapter for this month’s Member of the Month.
